Environment

Fully committed to maintaining environmental protection in Kazakhstan

AltynGold’s environmental policy is deeply integrated into its operations, focussing on environmental compliance, responsible waste management and transparency in reporting greenhouse gas emissions.

Key Outcome

100%
of mining wastewater is reused

AltynGold prioritises responsible water management by reusing treated mining wastewater on-site, reducing overall consumption, and minimising environmental impact.

Environmental stewardship

We have a robust system in place to ensure that all of our facilities meet environmental standards set by the government. We work with accredited outsourced companies on a quarterly basis to monitor water quality, air quality and soil samples to ensure that there are no adverse effects on the environment.

Of primary importance to the Company is to ensure that the tailings dam and water discharges are within environmentally safe limits. The facility has a system in place that provides treatment and discharge of mine water into the surface reservoir – quarterly testing is done to ensure all required standards are met.

The Company has systems to control the processing of waste in a controlled and environmentally compliant manner. All household waste produced is disposed of at specialised landfill sites, and hazardous waste such as mercury is carefully sent for recycling, as is plastic waste from plastic packaging and pipe cuttings.

We regularly report greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Company’s development operations, and the calculations are prepared by the Minister of Environmental Protection in Kazakhstan.
